Chapter 1 - Ideas, Data, People, Things.

Every career can be broken down into four basic activities: Ideas, Data, People and Things. This section of the Career Report looks at what we consider to be your balance of the said activities.

IDEAS - If you enjoy solving problems, debating political ideas, creating/ inventing something new or sharing your knowledge, we suspect a career focused on working with IDEAS would be important for you.

DATA - If you enjoy tracking your bank balance, reading science books and magazines, or computing information, we suspect a career focused on working with DATA would appeal to you.

PEOPLE - If meeting new neighbors, giving a stranger directions, or spending time with your friends is important to you, we would suggest a career focused on meeting the needs of PEOPLE might be important.

THINGS - If driving your car, fixing things around the home, or working with tools is highly enjoyable, we would suspect a career focused on working with THINGS would be enjoyable.

The numbers on the left below are percentages representing our perception of your interest in each of these four activities. If one is higher, even by a few percentage points, we would expect it to be your top priority.

Overview of results:

Looking at the sample reports you will notice that each subject has one or more areas that rank higher than the others. Take Oprah for example. She is only at a 14% when it comes to THINGS, but ranks 33% for PEOPLE. Knowing this it is a natural fit that she is heavily suited to instruct and meet the needs of people. Her talk show exemplifies this and her career report backs her career decision to be a talk show host that caters to other people's needs.

Now let's look at Bill Clinton. He ranks high in both IDEAS and PEOPLE. The IDEAS category shows that he enjoys solving problems, debating political ideas, along with sharing his knowledge with others. And for PEOPLE (the same with Oprah), Bill will enjoy meeting new people and spending time working and dealing with a variety of personalities. Knowing that he is a past President and before that having to work his way up the ranks of politics, he is extremely personable and at the same time, compassionate to other's needs. Later in his career report you will see how it shows Bill Clinton that politics is a bright career path to pursue.
